The NI Grain Trade Association has appointed Robin Irvine to a new post within the Association – Chief Executive Officer. Announcing the appointment , Owen Brennan, NIGTA president said “This resource is much needed in our Association as the agri supply trade, which NIGTA represents, is continually meeting new challenges in research, quality assurance and lobbying activities, in addition to networking with related organisations.

“Robin has served on the Executive Committee of NIGTA for many years, which includes two terms as President, thus he brings a wealth of experience to this position. The appointment represents a significant commitment by NIGTA to effectively represent the supply trade in Northern Ireland and to guide the membership through the many risks and challenges that we face.”

Commenting on his appointment, Robin said “Previous Presidents have ensured an integral role for NIGTA in the agri food industry and I intend to build on that success by supporting future Presidents, who now carry a much heavier work load both within their own businesses and within NIGTA, to help them bring continuity and focus to the important issues for this industry. “

Robin has stepped down from his role as Managing Director of Fane Valley Feeds and this week has taken up the new position with NIGTA.

Robin is also well known for his development and pioneering work in farming organisations, in addition to being a very successful Hereford breeder who has served both as President and a three year term as Chairman of the UK Hereford Cattle Society.
